Breaking the Barrier: How 20/20 Plumbing & Heating Is Bridging the Gap Between Office and Field

At 20/20 Plumbing & Heating, we’re redefining what it means to be a team in the construction industry. Our company is built on a simple but powerful belief: when the office and the field understand each other, we all win — especially our clients and our employee-owners.

As a 100% employee-owned company, we’ve always prioritized unity and shared purpose. Now, we’re taking it a step further. We’ve officially launched a new initiative that brings our office team directly into the field, offering a front-row look into daily operations and encouraging real connection across departments.

A Real Look at the Work Behind the Work

This isn’t a quick handshake or a photo op. These are in-depth “field trips” where office staff walk active jobsites, observe installation phases from the ground up, and meet the crews bringing our work to life.

The first trip was led by Matt Moreno (Single-Family Plumbing Assistant General Manager), Eric Moreno (Single-Family Plumbing General Superintendent), and our COO Marc Nikoden. Joining them were Cara Murray (Accounts Receivable Administrator), Megan King (Administrative Supervisor), Jade Peebler (Accounts Receivable Manager), and Selene Davila (Operations Administrator).

Together, they visited one of our Single-Family job sites and walked through each phase, from underground and top out, to trim and finally, a completed home. They wore their PPE, followed all safety protocols, and asked questions to better understand how field conditions impact day-to-day workflows.

This is part of our broader vision: to operate as one team — field and office, united with a shared mission.

Office Team Takeaways

Here’s what the team had to say after a day in the field:

“It gave me so much more pride in our company. Our crews stand out. You can just tell they care, and they work hard.”

“I now understand so much more of the construction lingo we see on paperwork — PEX tubing, dual waste, water closets — it makes sense when you see it being installed.”

“It opened my eyes to how important timing is. It’s not just about our work, it’s about how everyone works together.”

“Seeing the details of the community pool building come together in person, something we usually just see as a line item on a billing sheet, made everything feel more real. It gave me a deeper appreciation for the field and made me want to be more intentional in how I support them.”

Safety

One of the most noticeable takeaways was how much our 20/20 Plumbing & Heating team stood out on-site. Every crew member was dressed in full, proper PPE and represented the company with professionalism and pride. You could truly see how much they care about the work they do. It was also a powerful reminder of how essential safety is in the field and why our culture expects every employee, whether in the office or the field, to understand and respect safety protocols. It’s not just a rule, it’s a responsibility we all share.

One Team. One Company. One Mission.

These trips are more than just educational. They foster respect, enhance communication, and deepen our commitment to one another. When office and field employees have the opportunity to ask questions and collaborate in real-time, it leads to improved processes, smoother workflows, and a stronger company culture.

That’s the heart of employee ownership. Everyone has a stake in our success, and everyone deserves a seat at the table — or in this case, a chance to walk the site.

20/20 Plumbing & Heating is proud to continue these field visits throughout the year, bringing out more small groups from across departments to experience what it means to build homes, communities, and relationships from the ground up.

Because when we understand each other, we build better — together.
