Honoring a Legacy: Tom Baker Retires from the Board of Directors
After nearly five decades in the plumbing industry, Tom Baker, Founder of 20/20 Plumbing & Heating, is retiring from the company’s Board of Directors. While this marks the close of an important chapter, the legacy he built continues to shape who we are today.
Tom’s journey in the industry began in 1976, launching a career rooted in hard work, determination, and a deep respect for the trades. In 1985, he founded T L Baker Plumbing, laying the foundation for what would become one of the most influential plumbing organizations in the country. His leadership reached another milestone in 1992, when he led the merger with RCR Plumbing, Inc., helping grow the company into the largest non-union plumbing entity in the United States at the time.
Never one to stand still, Tom later founded a new business in 1999, which would later become known as 20/20 Plumbing & Heating, Inc. He served as Founder, President, and CEO until January 1, 2020, and then as Chairman of the Board, helping guide the company through decades of growth and evolution.
His forward-thinking mindset and disciplined approach to operations played a key role in establishing 20/20 as a trusted partner to builders and a company known for doing things the right way.
Throughout his career, Tom has often said that the most meaningful part of his work has always been the people. Over the years, he built lifelong friendships and a close-knit community within the company. As he steps into new ventures, Tom has shared that one of the hardest parts will be no longer seeing his family and friends at 20/20 as often. For him, the company was never just a workplace. It is his life and an extension of his family.
That belief helped shape a culture built on integrity, accountability, and genuine care for one another. Those values continue today through the employee-owners who carry the 20/20 name forward and uphold the standards Tom helped establish.
As Tom Baker retires from the Board, we take this moment to reflect on a career that left a lasting impact, not only on the industry but on the people who had the opportunity to work alongside him.
Thank you, Tom, for the vision, leadership, and relationships that will continue to guide 20/20 Plumbing & Heating for generations to come.
