20/20 Plumbing & Heating Joins Linc Housing in Welcoming New Residents to The Nook

As trade partner to Linc Housing and General Contractor Walton, 20/20 Plumbing & Heating, Inc. is delighted to join the organization in welcoming new residents to its new housing community in Whittier, California. The Nook is a 27-unit apartment community designed to serve transition age youth who are 18- to 24-years old and in need of stable housing. All apartments will be filled through referrals from the County of Los Angeles Coordinated Entry System (CES).

Located at 14433 Leffingwell Road in South Whittier, The Nook is comprised of 26 one-bedroom homes and one two-bedroom manager’s unit. The building’s sleek, contemporary aesthetic is matched by an array of modern amenities designed for young residents, including a computer lab, community room, patio, second-floor roof deck and a community kitchen. These spaces will support community building as well as group educational experiences. The design further incorporates sustainable features, including energy- and water-saving elements that will reduce utility costs while helping the environment.

Due to generous gifts from donors and help from volunteers, Linc Housing was able to fully stock all 26 apartments with housing essentials. “This program is so vital to ensuring that our new young residents who are transitioning out of foster care, and at times homelessness, feel at home in their new environment,” a Linc Housing spokesperson said.

“Young adults who haven’t had the benefit of family support and struggle with housing stability are at great risk of becoming chronically homeless,” said Suny Lay Chang, Linc Housing’s president and chief operating officer. “Instead of dreaming about their futures as they begin their independent lives, they’re wondering where they’re going to sleep. Our goal is to address this problem head on by providing a roof over their heads as well as supportive services to help ensure success.”
