20/20 Plumbing & Heating, Inc. Joins AZpartsmaster in Supporting Project 150

In November, 20/20 Plumbing & Heating, Inc. teamed up with AZpartsmaster to help Las Vegas-based nonprofit Project 150 replace a failed water heater. AZpartsmaster Branch Manager Ryan May approved the donation of a new unit and 20/20 Plumbing & Heating technician Sammy Leon and Nevada Customer Service Manager Steve Shimp performed the installation.

Project 150 was established in December 2011, when founders learned that the local school district included an alarming number of homeless teens. A local news report had revealed that more than 150 homeless students were then attending Rancho High School alone. A community outreach was begun, with a mission of providing “support and services to homeless, displaced, and disadvantaged high school students so they can remain in school, graduate and build bright futures.”

A decade later, Project 150 serves thousands of students by providing food, clothing, hygiene items, school supplies, life skills workshops, scholarships and referrals to social services. Currently, there are an estimated 6,400 Las Vegas-area high school students in need. 3,300 of those are registered as homeless and 3,100 are classified as non-registered homeless, displaced or disadvantaged. Project 150 also serves students in need at 20 high schools in Reno, Nevada.

Project 150 is supported by donations from community partners and through public and private collaborative partnerships created to provide services to students in the Clark County School District. Project 150 welcomes donations of time, money, products or services to support homeless, displaced and disadvantaged high school students. Donations of clothing, shoes, unopened hygiene products, and unopened, unexpired, non-perishable food items are accepted Monday-Friday from 9am-5pm at Project 150’s headquarters: Brady Caipa Volunteer Center, 3600 N. Rancho Drive, Las Vegas, NV 89130. Consult the organization’s website for other drop-off locations around the Las Vegas Valley.

Patrons can feel good about their donations to Project 150, knowing that they are helping kids via an organization that is financially transparent. Project 150 makes its IRS filings and annual impact reports available on its website. It was awarded a Platinum Seal of Transparency by GuideStar, the world’s largest source of information on U.S. nonprofits.
