20/20 Plumbing & Heating Announces New President & CEO: Charles “Buck” Cockey
As we embark on a new chapter in 2025, 20/20 Plumbing & Heating is proud to announce Charles “Buck” Cockey as our new President & CEO, following the retirement of the highly respected Michael Mahony. Buck’s appointment marks a seamless transition, ensuring the continued growth and success of our company while honoring the legacy built by Tom Baker, Mike Mahony, and our leadership team.
A Journey of Growth and Leadership
Reflecting on the company’s remarkable journey, Buck shared his thoughts on this transition:
“I think back to the early 2000s, visiting Tom and later Tom and Mike at the Buchanan facility. It was small, and they were packed in there tight. Over the years, they’ve built something incredible, which wouldn’t have been possible without great people—both current and past.”
The progress of 20/20 Plumbing & Heating over the years is a testament to the dedication, hard work, and vision of its leadership and employee-owners. From humble beginnings to becoming a wholly employee-owned company, the transformation has been extraordinary.
Building on a Solid Foundation
Some notable milestones achieved in recent years include the expansion of the management team, the successful integration of key acquisitions such as ASC, and the development of a robust Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP).
Five years ago, 20/20 Plumbing & Heating’s management team consisted of just seven individuals. Today, that team has grown to 28, reflecting the company’s commitment to strategic growth and leadership development. This remarkable expansion is a direct result of deliberate succession planning, which has played a pivotal role in driving the company’s ongoing evolution.
Buck highlighted the significance of this investment, stating:
“Succession planning was integral to the success of 20/20 and YOU as Employee Owners. It took courage to implement this alongside the repayment of our debt, but it was the right decision for our future.”
Now debt-free and fully owned by its employees, 20/20 Plumbing & Heating is thriving under its ESOP model. The cultural shift towards employee ownership has solidified the company’s foundation and set the stage for an exciting future.
Looking Ahead: A Unified Vision
Buck’s transition to President & CEO is not just a change in leadership but a continuation of the vision and strategy he helped shape alongside Tom, Mike, Alvin Aeschlimann (CFO), and Marc Nikoden (VP of Operations). Buck shared his thoughts on this new chapter:
“Our 2025 year looks good, and 2026 looks to be great. I hope all of you are as excited and prepared for this next chapter in our growth as I am. None of this would have been possible without all of YOU.”
The strategic transition of operations between Buck, Marc, and Alvin will begin later this year, establishing a collaborative and aligned leadership team to drive the company forward.
Buck expressed his deep gratitude to Mike Mahony for their strong partnership and trust built over the years. Reflecting on their collaboration, he said:
“Mike and I went through more in five years than most people go through in a lifetime, and for that, we are truly blessed.”
As Buck steps into his new role, he is committed to encouraging the same trust and respect with the leadership team and employee-owners alike. His focus remains on building a future that honors the company’s legacy while embracing new opportunities.
A Message to Employee-Owners
Buck closed his announcement with a line from one of his favorite songs by The Who:
“Meet the new boss… same as the old boss.”
This sentiment perfectly captures Buck’s commitment to continuity, stability, and growth as he takes the reins as President & CEO of 20/20 Plumbing & Heating. Here’s to the next chapter in our incredible journey—together, as employee-owners, we will continue to build on our success and achieve even greater milestones. Thank you for your trust, support, and dedication to making 20/20 Plumbing & Heating the thriving company it is today.
