Employee Ownership in Action: Why H.R. 4896 Matters to 20/20 Plumbing & Heating and the American Workforce

At 20/20 Plumbing & Heating, we’re proud to stand as an Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP) company — one where every team member is an employee-owner. Our company culture is rooted in shared success, long-term stability, and building a legacy that benefits everyone, not just a few. We were honored to welcome Congressman Mark Takano back on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, this time for a tour of one of our HVAC facilities in Riverside, CA. During his previous visit, he explored one of our plumbing divisions, which is also located in Riverside.

Both visits served as an opportunity to further highlight the significance of H.R. 4896: The Expansion and Promotion of Private Employee Ownership Act, and to demonstrate how this legislation directly impacts employee-owned companies like 20/20 Plumbing & Heating. As passionate advocates for the ESOP model, we value every opportunity to elevate the conversation around employee ownership—and we’re grateful for Congressman Takano’s continued support and engagement.

Why H.R. 4896 Matters

H.R. 4896 aims to expand access to ESOPs by:

  • Providing increased technical assistance for transitioning businesses,
  • Offering incentives for business owners to sell to their employees,
  • Enhancing education and outreach efforts around ESOPs,
  • Encouraging federal agencies to recognize and support employee ownership as a valuable business model.

This bill isn’t just about economics — it’s about people. It’s about hard-working employees being given the opportunity to build wealth, gain stability, and have a real stake in the future of the company they help build every day.

Why We’re Advocating

As an ESOP company, we’ve seen firsthand how this model fuels motivation, encourages collaboration, and strengthens retention. Our employee-owners take pride in their work because they’re invested in every outcome. This pride is what drives the quality and excellence 20/20 is known for in the new construction plumbing and HVAC industry.

Inviting Congressman Takano to return allows us to:

  • Showcase personal stories from employee-owners,
  • Provide feedback on what federal support can do to expand this business model,
  • Reaffirm our support for policies that protect and promote employee ownership.

A Call to Action

We invite our fellow ESOP companies, industry partners, and community leaders to join us in supporting H.R. 4896. Employee ownership strengthens our local economies, supports the middle class, and creates companies that prioritize long-term success over short-term profits.

We are honored to help lead the conversation and shine a light on what’s possible when employees are given the opportunity to become owners.

Congressman Takano, we look forward to welcoming you back to 20/20 Plumbing & Heating and continuing the important work of building a future that works — for everyone.
